 This was my intial design for the "Activities" page.

I used a 2 column design, with the links on the left hand side. I inserted this picture as my background.

Next was to insert my Flash gallery (as explained in the tutorial below) I also inserted some text regarding the description of activities available.

Assignment 3 Introduction Page.

One of my contributions to the team was the flash introduction page. The page will fade from a white colour till it shows the image of a rainforest. There is a blinking effect on the text. At the bottom is an "enter" button which links to the homepage.

 I used a few layers to separate the text and used the tween functions to create some movements, as well as fade effects.

I just inserted the final product into a template in dreamweaver and linked the "enter" button. Its set against an empty background to create the effect of "white space"

Progress

I'd like to explain my input and ideas regarding our final group website.

Description
In my personal opinion, I would the website to be as clean and less cluttered as possible. Buttons should be easy to see and points/text that are included should be straightforward and precise.
I will use clear images and simple text to illustrate the various activities available in Batang Ai National Park.

Objective
My part in the website shows the various activities available in Batang Ai National Park. I would like to break down the activities in a few categories, such as leisure, adventure, nature appreciation and so on. My link would serve to create excitement in potential tourist as I introduce them to various activities available.

GUI Design

The sidebar will be fixed on the left side for easy navigation. Each page will be accompanied by a flash gallery as well as text to illustrate the points. On the bottom right will be further contact information (buttons with links to facebook page, twitter, email, etc)

Background will be a rainforest theme and the overall blog will use green and white colour themes to emphasize the main point, which is Batang Ai National Park.

Flowchart

A simple flowchart shows how each category under "activities" is separated. Flash galleries and text are used to allow easy navigation and understanding.

Tools
I will use photoshop to edit some of the photos used. To enhance photos I will adjust gradient, levels, burn, blur and so on.
Dreamweaver will be the main platform in designing the website. Flash header will be included to catch attention.
I will use Flash to create an image gallery.   (As explained in the following post.)

FLASH GALLERY

Hi all, this post is going to show one of my design ideas for assignment 3, which is a flash photo gallery. The interesting thing about this gallery is that you are able to navigate using front and back arrows.

I will be following this tutorial step by step.

Firstly create 4 layers, namely Actions, Images, Buttons and Base.

First step is to import all photos which are to be included into the library. First start with your "images" layer. Select the first frame. Next drag the image onto the main stage. Resize the photos according to this dimension.

X : 113 Y : 84
W : 32- H 240

The photo should appear in the middle as such. Click the next frame and insert a keyframe. Repeat the similar process by dragging the photo from the library, then re-sizing it according to the same dimensions. Repeat process for all photos. (In my case, 6 photos were used)

Next, we would like to create a white border around the images to create a nice effect. Select the first frame in "base". The step is simple. First, using rectangle tool, draw a box(in white). Next just resize it so that it is slightly bigger than the images. Use this dimension.

X : 111 Y : 82
W : 324  H:  244

The picture will now have a white border surrounding it. Copy and paste the first frame in each of the 6 frames so that each of the image has a white border.

 Next is to create the buttons. On the "buttons" layer, select the first frame and insert a text box. Using the webdings font, type the number 3. An arrow facing the left will appear. Insert another text, this time typing the number 4. An arrow facing the right will appear. Arrange the buttons so that it looks central as such. Don't forget to copy the first frame and paste it in the following 5 frames so that each image will be accompanied by the buttons as well.

Select the buttons and click F8. To convert image to button, select "button" and name it btn1. Also give it an instance name of btn 1. Repeat the same thing for the second button and name it btn2.

Finally are the actions. Select the first frame on the "actions" layer. Select actions and then type the code as as such. (Go to "window" and click "actions")

stop()

btn1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,backward);
btn2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK,forward);

function forward(event:MouseEvent){
if(this.currentFrame == this.totalFrames){
gotoAndStop(1);
}
else{
nextFrame();
}
}

function backward(event:MouseEvent){
if(this.currentFrame == 1){
gotoAndStop(this.totalFrames);
}
else{
prevFrame();
}
}

That's it! Click "control" then "test movie". An SWF file with your finished work should appear.
